Each of Mr. Nielson's paintings depict various aspects of human character using figurative imagery and a blending of visual motifs from his imagination and the world's cultures. He describes the surrounding, decorative shapes as visual manifestations of an invisible, spiritual temperament. His inspiration comes from the unique personalities and diverse viewpoints of people he meets from day to day.
Mr. Nielson has created art throughout his life and his current series represents a culmination of technique, style, and interest. He is largely self-taught but has earned art degrees, taught as professort of art, and written about art. A frequent mover, he has lived across the US and Europe; he now resides in Washington state with his wife and two sons. |
